We Welcome All Dental Insurance Benefits

Paying for dental care shouldn’t be a difficult or complicated process. When you have dental insurance, getting you and your family the care it needs at The Dental People is within arm’s reach. Not only is our dental office in-network with most major providers, but we’ll help you understand aspects about your coverage and answer whatever questions we can about your benefits. Below, you’ll find some basic information on how most dental plans work and how much coverage you can expect depending on the treatment.

Understanding How Dental Insurance Works

Contrary to popular belief, dental insurance is not something you should only use when you absolutely need it. This is often the case for medical insurance, which is typically used when a serious injury, illness or other emergency occurs. With dental insurance, you’re supposed to use it routinely, ideally once every six months. This is because dental insurance is more intended to cover preventive care, which is crucial to maintaining long-term oral health and saving money on treatment costs.

What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers

Every dental plan is different, which is why it’s worth going to your provider directly or HR manager (for those who get insurance from work) if you want to learn the details of your plan. With that said, many plans will cover treatments in the same way. The way they break down usually looks like this:

  • Essential preventive care, which includes cleanings and exams, is covered at or close to 100 percent.
  • Minor restorative care, or dental fillings and root canal therapy, is covered between 70 and 80 percent.
  • Major restorative care includes more complex treatments like crowns, bridges and dentures and are covered between 50 and 60 percent.

We Offer In-Network Savings & Welcome Out-of-Network Providers

Being in-network simply means that we have agreed to certain rates from insurance companies on specific treatments. This means the rates at which you pay will typically be lower than what you’d pay if you were out-of-network. However, those who are out-of-network can usually expect similar rates for dental services offered by our dental office. Our fees are even competitive for those currently without insurance.
